Detected, the world’s first agnostic business verification platform, has appointed Peter Youell as Chief Technology Officer. Peter has been in software development for over 15 years, building high performing engineering teams and leading the delivery on some of the UK’s largest eCommerce projects. Peter will oversee the development and impending commercialisation of Detected’s AI-powered platform.

Peter’s experience spans leadership roles at Astound Commerce, Oracle, Tryzens and InventCommerce, working to scale their engineering practices and lead product development for either those businesses or their partners. His most recent position - VP, Technology at Astound Commerce - saw Peter grow the company’s UK business to 55 people and 60+ clients (from five and three on arrival). Peter will continue on at Astound in a global advisory role.

Peter Youell said: “The opportunity to join Detected as CTO allows me to share my experience with a team that is solving a very real problem in an enormous market that is growing fast. The complexity of the platform is a real technology challenge, one which is constantly evolving, and we have already seen with the first customers how much value it adds. I have worked with Liam in the past and have huge faith in the team he has built based on their experience and what they have achieved already.”

Liam Chennells, Chief Executive Officer of Detected, said: “Peter’s arrival is our strongest statement of intent to date. His exceptional technical leadership and commercial understanding makes him the visionary needed to build and scale our technology. With Peter at our technical helm, we can scale rapidly as we help solve the $200 billion problem of fraud in this $5.6 trillion industry.”

Detected enables B2B buyers and sellers to trade with confidence. Platform and marketplace agnostic, Detected uses thousands of data points to confirm a buyer or seller’s identity, location, solvency and capability in seconds. This automated validation is refreshed month after month, eliminating the need for ongoing time-consuming and manual due diligence.

Liam continued: “B2B digital commerce consists of countless systems and this complexity is a breeding ground for fraud. B2B buyers and sellers rarely check the credentials of who they are selling to and buying from and this is particularly true once a supplier has been officially vetted. Businesses assume a seller’s circumstances can never change, malicious or otherwise, but this happens with startling regularity and often with no warning.

Detected mitigates these risks in many ways – by helping to build trust between trading partners, solving the impatience conundrum associated with due diligence, and simplifying cross border trade.  Our platform is seamlessly integrated into any existing marketplace, business process or procurement system.”
