As the only taxi solution to be made available to passengers and all Hackney Carriage drivers and licensed cabs in the UK and Ireland, cab:app is achieving unprecedented reach. While the solution lets passengers hail a cab directly from their smartphone, a dedicated drivers’ application indicates pick-up and drop-off in advance, providing drivers with the option to efficiently increase their utilization. 

Founded by Peter Schive, a London green badge driver for 14 years, cab:app has been silently signing up over 7,600 registered drivers across 90 cities in the UK (Hackney only) and Ireland (full time drivers only). With the new release, made available last week, cab:app drivers are now able to accept physical Visa, MasterCard and American Express card payments directly from the cab:app application using an NFC enabled Chip & PIN card reader. In addition, frequent passengers can pay directly by a push of a button in their passenger application, without the need of a physical credit card being present.

payworks runs a payment platform for developers, enabling providers of integrated POS applications to easily integrate payment terminals and Card Not Present payment functionality into their apps via the payworks mPOS software development kit (SDK). Now, the partnership between cab:app and payworks brings this technology to the streets of the UK and Ireland making taxi rides more accessible and flexible, leaving the passenger the choice between multiple payment options.
