Kony and ORNL Federal Credit Union Deliver Innovative Mobile Banking App Experience

 Kony, Inc., the leading enterprise mobility company, today announced it has helpedORNL Federal Credit Union (ORNL FCU) establish a competitive advantage by delivering unique mobile app experiences to its members.

ORNL Federal Credit Union was established in 1948 and is the largest credit union in eastern Tennessee with nearly $1.7 billion in total assets. Faced with the pressure of adapting to the digital requirements of today’s consumers – a massive 111 million mobile banking users by 2016 nationally – ORNL FCU developed an enterprise mobility strategy built on Kony’s cloud-based mobile platform to help retain its current member base and grow its membership. As the number of millennials using mobile phones for banking in the U.S. is expected to reach nearly 95 percent by 2019, ORNL FCU recognised it needed to invest in its mobile app to cater to its growing demographic of younger users.

In addition to providing a mobile banking app for its 167,000 members to manage their accounts, Kony has helped ORNL FCU offer its members two unique features that the credit union refers to as “game changers:”

  • Focus Money Manager: Working with Kony, ORNL FCU integrated its personal financial management (PFM) software with its mobile banking app to allow its members to view, access, and manage all their finances, not just ORNL FCU accounts. Kony was able to build communication links and data sharing between the PFM software and the mobile app so a member could see all of his or her financial relationships, no matter what financial institution. Now members have a holistic view and can manage their entire financial lives on a mobile device, courtesy of ORNL FCU.
  • Community Events Feature: A first in the industry, ORNL FCU created a community service feature that reaches beyond mobile banking.  Integrated into the app is the official guide for the Dogwood Arts annual Rhythm ‘N Blooms Music Festival, sponsored by ORNL FCU.   Members and non-members alike can download the app for relevant information including artists, venues, even ticket sales. ORNL FCU’s app is now a prime source of knowledge about what’s happening in certain community activities.
