Tietoevry Banking has signed a strategic agreement with Lokalbank to deliver a comprehensive banking platform tailored to the Norwegian market. The solution offers robust security and full compliance with regulatory requirements, and includes core banking services, mobile and online banking, payment systems, card services, and anti-financial crime tools.

Lokalbank is a collaboration of 16 independent banks serving 250,000 private and corporate customers across Norway. With a clear vision to foster growth and development in local communities, the partnership with Tietoevry Banking supports this mission through scalable, future-ready technology.

“The agreement with Tietoevry Banking provides Lokalbank with a unified technology platform that streamlines operations across the collaboration. Digital workflows and user-friendly tools free up employees to focus on advisory services and sales. Combined with a modern digital interface, this enhances the overall customer experience. Altogether, the partnership with Tietoevry Banking strengthens our banks competitive position,” says Bent R. Eidem, CEO of Lokalbank.

For Tietoevry Banking, the deal represents an important milestone in its role as a leading provider of banking technology in Norway. A key component of the partnership is a structured model for collaboration across both organizations and within the broader Frende Group.

“Being chosen by Lokalbank as a strategic partner is a strong vote of confidence. Our end-to-end technology platform, built on industry-standard architecture, enables cost-efficient banking while meeting high demands for quality and security. Through the delivery of a full-service solution, Lokalbank benefits from significantly simplified integration and faster time-to-market. The agreement also builds on a strong collaboration model that supports the continued evolution of banking technology in line with market needs and is rooted in the broader partnership with the Frende Group,” says Endre Rangnes, CEO of Tietoevry.

“This new technology partnership with Tietoevry Banking enables Lokalbank to offer customers a seamless user experience across banking services and product companies within the Frende network. Combined with lower operational complexity and strong digital interfaces, Lokalbank becomes a highly attractive partner in the Norwegian market,” says Stine Neteland, CEO of the Frende Group.

The agreement spans five years, with an option to extend for an additional two plus two years.

“Tietoevry Banking will migrate Lokalbank to its modernized core banking platform using a proven framework that emphasizes strong collaboration, clearly defined roles, and effective meeting structures—ensuring a step-by-step, well-managed transition. This partnership also opens up new opportunities for developing next-generation digital banking services. Ultimately, Lokalbank will gain customer-centric solutions that deepen its relevance and proximity to its clients,” says Mario Blazevic, Acting CEO of Tietoevry Banking.

In parallel with the agreements signed with Sparebanken Norge and Lokalbank, the Frende Group has also entered into an agreement with Tietoevry Banking that allows new members to join the group under a competitive framework facilitated through Frende.

The Frende Group is a collaboration between independent, self-governing banks, with Sparebanken Norge* and Lokalbank as the driving forces. The banks have in common that they are owners and distributors insurance from Frende Forsikring, and partners with Brage Finans and Norne Securities. The Frende Group will facilitate cost-effective collaboration that strengthens the banks' independent position.

“We have signed an agreement that enables new members to join the Frende Group directly and benefit from a highly competitive technology deal. Our goal is to remain a collaboration that supports independence while accommodating the diverse needs of different banks,” says Stine B. Neteland of the Frende Group.

“That’s why it is especially gratifying that all Frende Group banks are now aligned with the same technology provider. This gives us unique opportunities to further develop our banks, product companies, and deliver outstanding user experiences across our shared ecosystem,” Neteland concludes.
