Nordea Asset Management is partnering up with Jan Ståhlberg, a pioneer within the international private equity industry, in a joint venture aimed at investing in non-listed companies with strong sustainability targets. Jan Ståhlberg was a co-founder of EQT and he is a former deputy managing partner and vice chairman of the European-leading private equity firm.

The objective is to create a strong partnership, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Jan Ståhlberg’s vast knowledge within private equity will be combined with Nordea Asset Management’s leading position within ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) research.

- We will have a unique opportunity to incorporate ESG factors in private equity investments. This will generate a sustainable impact, says Nils Bolmstrand, Head of Nordea Asset Management.

According to Nils Bolmstrand, Nordea Asset Management’s existing client base has indicated high levels of interest in dedicating investments to sustainable private equity projects.

- Sustainability and ESG are megatrends that are here to stay. We regard it as an obligation and an opportunity to be part of this development. We are looking forward to helping clients seize these opportunities, Nils Bolmstrand says.

- By founding Trill Impact, I want to direct investments to ideas that will make the world a better place to live in. I am convinced that these investments are possible. It is an honour to have Nordea as a valued partner on this journey, contributing with their world-class sustainability analysis, says Jan Ståhlberg.

The investment philosophy of this new venture is to invest in companies with a business model that will help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to measure the positive ESG impact both of specific investments and across the portfolio of investments.
