The UK’s fastest-growing investment platform InvestEngine has today confirmed that it now manages over £1 billion in investments for its clients – a major milestone that comes off the back of a year of sustained growth and expansion.

Since launching with its first DIY portfolio in 2021, InvestEngine has increased its customer numbers to 75,000 and, through its focus on exchange-traded funds (ETF) investing and low fees, has helped these customers reinvest nearly £34 million that would have otherwise been lost to potential trading and account fees.

This demand for low cost investing, coupled with its digital-first platform, has propelled InvestEngine to this billion pounds assets under management (AUM) milestone and fuelled growth by 200% in 2024, hitting the top five retail platforms for net flows according to industry figures.

In the last year alone, the platform processed 7.5 million ETF trades and saw £218 million deposited by customers into ISAs. InvestEngine’s customers would have benefited from a strong year for investors, with the S&P 500 alone returning 23% in 2024, compared to an average cash ISA interest rate of just 1.8%.

InvestEngine’s sustained growth is in part due to increasing demand for ETF investing, with ownership up 57% in the UK since 2022, offering lower costs, diversification and choice, making them well suited to a range of investor types and goals. PwC now forecasts that global ETF AUM is expected to exceed £19.2 trillion by 2028.

In 2024, InvestEngine continued to launch new, innovative products for its customers. To help more people to invest for their retirement, InvestEngine launched its zero-fee Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs), as well as expanding its portfolio offering with LifePlans, a set of ready-made expert-managed portfolios.

The launches built on its existing range of products for both individuals and business owners across Stocks and Shares ISAs, General Investment Accounts and Business accounts. Meanwhile its Savings Plan feature is continuing to help customers to automate regular investing and better grow their long-term wealth.

Andrey Dobrynin, Co-Founder and Managing Director, InvestEngine, said: “Since we founded InvestEngine, we have been squarely focused on giving people a simpler, lower risk and lower cost way to invest in their future. It is our commitment to these principles that has helped propel us past today’s £1 billion milestone.

“ETFs have been a big part of how we’ve met our customers’ needs. Their growth, coupled with our digital-first service and our expansion into areas like zero-fee pensions and ready-made portfolios, has helped win us numerous accolades and cemented us as the fastest growing investment platform of 2024.

“I’m excited for the milestones we’ll reach in the year ahead, from growing our AUM further to increasing our customer numbers and launching more innovative products and services.”
