Duck Creek’s SaaS solution will enable the auto insurer to expand capabilities, improve the customer and agent experience, and offer web-based portals and self-service opportunities 

Duck Creek Technologies have announced that Anchor General Insurance Company has selected Duck Creek On-Demand, a differentiated Software as a Service (SaaS) model, to replace its legacy property and casualty (P&C) insurance policy, billing and claims systems. Anchor General chose Duck Creek On-Demand in an effort to offer customers a higher level of service, especially for claims and billing, and to create a better user experience for independent agents.

“The SaaS solution is very appealing to us,” said Abe Badani, owner and CEO of Anchor General. “Duck Creek provides a holistic solution that includes taking care of the application, upgrades, infrastructure and even providing extended vendor ecosystem services. That’s important because we will be able to redirect our IT resources to support our strategic initiatives rather than manage and maintain our systems.”

The rollout will leverage Duck Creek’s non-standard auto insurance content and Duck Creek On-Demand’s ready-to-run solutions for MVR, police reports, and other services, which will accelerate implementation to about nine months, and include 3,000 concurrent policy and billing users. That number will increase to 10,000 by year six.

Anchor General also will launch new agent and consumer portals, enabling users to look at their bills, process payments, print ID cards, view their policy information, and submit claims. “We were looking for out-of-the box functionality that was very robust and could support our new distribution channels and Duck Creek provided the right solution,” Badani said.

With Duck Creek On-Demand, Anchor General will attain a massive upgrade in terms of the customer and agent experience,” said Patti Griffin, chief product officer, Duck Creek Technologies. “And having the ability to connect with consumers through digital channels opens the opportunity to offer new products, such as short-term insurance products.”

Duck Creek Suite incorporates Duck Creek Policy and Rating, Duck Creek Billing and Duck Creek Claims solutions. The configurable software is designed to work independently or as a combined approach to managing all aspects of the P&C insurance lifecycle. These solutions can be deployed through an on-premise implementation or via Duck Creek On-Demand, a differentiated Software as a Service model.

Anchor General Insurance Company and its subsidiary, Pacific Star Insurance Company, are San Diego-based carriers specializing in non-standard private passenger automobile liability and physical damage coverage. The policies covered by these two companies are managed by affiliated program administrators. Anchor General Insurance Agency, Inc., Anchor General Insurance Agency of Texas, Inc. and PacStar General Insurance Agency, Inc. manage several exclusive automobile insurance programs in California, Texas, Arizona, Washington and Oregon, with anticipated expansion into a number of additional states.
