Worldline, European market leader in payment and transactional services, has been selected by the Luxembourg banking community to provide its Access Control Server solution for 3D-Secure, in cooperation with LuxTrust, a Luxembourg-based certification authority.

The 3D-Secure dynamic protocol verifies cardholder authentication during e-commerce transactions to combat fraud.
Strong authentication to secure internet payments are a key requirement of the European Banking Authority (EBA) guidelines that take effect as of August 1, 2015, and will apply until the expected introduction of the PSD2 requirements in 2018/19. The guidelines were established to confront an increase in fraud that regulators have observed in the internet payments area. Luxembourg and other 27 European national authorities have pledged to comply with the EBA guidelines.

Worldline was selected for its tried and tested solution, which is used by millions of cardholders daily in 15 countries worldwide. Delivered in SaaS mode for easy service setup, the Worldline ACS solution provides straightforward workflow management, activity monitoring and reporting, as well as fraud prevention tools.

Worldline will take advantage of LuxTrust’s extensive base of some 350,000 clients in Luxembourg and nearby cross-border regions of surrounding countries. LuxTrust’s systems will be directly connected to Worldline’s ACS (Access Control Server) solution.

Wolf Kunisch, Worldline’s Managing Director for Financial Processing & Software Licensing, and responsible for Worldline Germany & CEE said: “Security is key in e-commerce and cardholder authentication is becoming ever more important. Backed by over 40 years of expertise in payment security, Worldline is a 3D¬Secure leader with its Worldline ACS platform and strong authentication services. Worldline is proud to team up with Luxembourg’s banks to secure their e-commerce payments.”
