Spendesk, the 7-in-1 spend management solution for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), today announces it will expand into Spain and Italy, opening two new offices in 2023. The new locations build on the company’s existing presence in the UK, France and Germany, as part of its strategic plan to become the spend management market leader across Europe.

Spendesk already serves a growing client portfolio in Spain that includes companies such as Glovo, Indie Campers, TypeForm, Fever, LeadTech, Badi, and Trendier. These two countries have a large pool of addressable SME's, making it a huge market for the company’s growth and expansion.

The company hopes to employ around 100 staff in each country by 2026, in addition to new hires relating to them which will be based at Spendesk’s Paris headquarters.

The current recruitment focus for the Spanish and Italian markets will be on sales, customer care and partnerships experts based in France. Spendesk will then staff key business partner functions such as operations, marketing, and additional talent acquisition.

Commenting on the news, Spendesk Southern Europe VP, Stéphane Baranzelli, said: “We’re excited to be taking the next stage of our strategic plan to expand across Europe. Launching in Spain is a continuum of our previous initiatives in the country which has seen us build a customer base who can already testify to our strengths.

“Our presence in Italy will allow us to explore a new market and culture for Spendesk. In a country with many SMBs, where dematerialisation is essential, we have mechanisms to roll out our product and position Spendesk as the market leader in the region.”

The move into the Italian and Spanish markets follows a successful year of Spendesk expansion. With now 100 full-time employees in the UK, the company has doubled the team’s size in 2022, and moved into new London offices, with additional recruitment planned. Over 30,000 users in the UK have contributed to a 300% increase in spend through the Spendesk platform this year.
