Thomson Reuters Eikon Messenger has been awarded “Best Mobile Initiative” at the Inside Market Data/Inside Reference Data awards, a recognition of the company’s commitment to provide market professionals greater agility over a messaging system offering industry leading chat controls and compliance features.

Eikon Messenger became available across all major mobile devices in November, 2015 and can be accessed on BlackBerry, Windows, Apple iOS for iPhone and iPad, and Android devices.  Mobile access is available to all users, whether using Eikon Messenger as part of a Thomson Reuters Eikon subscription or through a standalone, free-of-charge account.  Users have the same functionality and services on their mobile devices as on the desktop version, including file sharing, chat rooms and directory access.  Eikon Messenger’s compliance functions, including industry-leading Bilateral Chat controls, also apply to mobile devices at no charge.

‘Eikon Messenger offers financial professionals the crucial ability to connect instantly and easily irrespective of time or location, while helping maintain the highest standards of compliance and providing enhanced functionality,’ said Lesli Fairchild,  head of collaboration services, Thomson Reuters.  ‘This recognition is another acknowledgement of how Thomson Reuters is offering global solutions with innovative technologies that help improve workflow and flexibility for all industry professionals.’

Eikon Messenger utilizes a Bilateral Chat function that enables users to create conversations limited to a maximum of two companies at one time, helping to prevent unauthorized multilateral chats and supporting users’ efforts to meet compliance requirements. Eikon Messenger also offers full audit trails and transcripts to help  firms comply with the varied global regulations around recordkeeping and transcript recall.  As a result, all Eikon Messenger conversations and content are recorded, including chat rooms, file sharing, forms and screenshots.

Currently, Eikon Messenger has over 275,000 users in more than 180 countries across 25,000 firms. Eikon Messenger users can also connect with thousands of other contacts in multiple external messaging communities, including AOL and Yahoo, via Eikon Messenger’s interoperability with other messaging systems..

In addition to the Best Mobile Initiative Award, Thomson Reuters also won “Best News Provider” for the second year in a row, and “Best Reference Data Provider.”  Overall, these awards recognize the Thomson Reuters breadth and depth of news content and reference data across multiple markets and asset classes.

The awards were presented at an event in New York on May 18, 2016.  More on the Inside Market Data/Inside Reference Data Awards can be found at http://events.insidemarketdata.com/awards/static/home.
