Global Innovation Summit 2015 presents awards to six individuals from diverse sectors

The Global Innovation Summit and Awards 2015, held under the patronage of HE Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, recognised six individuals for path breaking implementation of technology in diverse sectors. The awards were presented by HE Hazza Mohammed Falah Al Qahtani, Undersecretary of Ministry of International Cooperation and Development.

The education sector innovation award was presented to Tazeen Sharif, for the iHear app that helps people with impairment to their speaking or hearing ability.

The business growth innovation award was presented to Alison Wilcox for the Cinetech, which revolutionizes the way video and content acquisition takes place.

The best innovation in retail awards was presented to Isabelle Millasseau for fooTup®, a child safety seat footrest that helps avoid leg numbness, relieves blood pressure and enables a natural sitting position for children while traveling.

The best healthcare innovation award went to Fouwaz Parkar for CURAPP, developed for patients of Alzheimer’s disease. The app uses the mobile phone's inbuilt GPS, camera, gallery and calling system to aid recall.

Neha Kaul received the best innovation for public good award for Parity, an app that helps create a gender bias index for the workplace and can help companies be more responsive towards women employees.

The sustainability innovation award was presented to Sebastian Stefan for LoadME, an app that increases chances of finding truck cargo for return trips and reduces the backhauling empty phenomenon. LoadMe implementation has the potential to reduce traffic by 10 per cent in UAE and CO2 emissions by a staggering 8 million tons in 2016 in GCC.

Global Innovation Summit and Awards 2015 was attended by over 1,000 entrepreneurs and decision makers in the areas of Smart City, Artificial Intelligence, Personal Robotics, Internet of Things, Mobile Innovation, 3D Printing, Wearable Tech, Smart Governance and Augmented Reality. It presented disruptive innovation through panel discussions and workshops with top level speakers including Salvador Anglada from Etisalat, Tarek Saeed and Anthony Butler from IBM, Tommi Raitio from Intel Corporation and Rania Rostom from GE and is supported by Dubai SME as Strategic Alliance Partner, Etisalat as Strategic SME Partner, IBM as Innovation Partner, and Al-Futtaim Toyota as Automobile Partner.
