Quant Insight, the macro analytics firm that applies innovative quantitative techniques to financial markets, today announced the completion of its latest funding round, which included key investments from Alan Howard (Brevan Howard Asset Management) and Jens-Peter Stein (Stone Milliner Asset Management). Over 80% of capital raised came from Qi’s clients in a successful financing round that exceeded the company’s expectations.

Following increasing global demand for Quant Insight’s AI and machine learning driven macro analytics, the firm has seen a 50% increase in the number of subscribing clients in 2018. As a result, Quant Insight has expanded globally, adding additional resources to cover clients in the US and Asia. In addition to the significant increase in its subscriber base, Quant Insight has also developed unique solutions in equity baskets and index construction and is now advising major banks and financial institutions in both of these areas.

Today’s markets require discretionary managers to analyse a huge number of market-moving variables across inter-connected geographies and correlated asset classes and distil them into a coherent view. Quant Insight combines investment expertise with high-quality data, proprietary algorithms and machine learning models to deliver a web-based analytics platform that arms investors with actionable investment insights that help deliver alpha. These include the ability to empirically reveal key market drivers, optimise trade selection, quickly spot regime shifts, build portfolios with specific macro characteristics and identify valuation anomalies.

Alan Howard, Founder, Brevan Howard Asset Management, said, “Qi helps untangle complex markets and identify what is driving asset prices. I can see many applications for Qi’s technology and am pleased to support them in their expansion.”

Jens-Peter Stein, Co-CIO and  Founder, Stone Milliner Asset Management, commented, “With so much attention on alternative data sources, Qi focuses on better understanding the data we already have - the data that really matters for markets.”

Matt Frame, Trader and Qi client, 3G Capital, New York, added, “Qi’s analytics are a breakthrough in constructing thematic equity baskets, and in defining the macro characteristics of single stocks as well as overall equity portfolios. As first-to-market for quant macro analytics, I see rapid growth potential for Qi across the industry.”

Mahmood Noorani, Founder, Quant Insight, said, “We are delighted to welcome the new investors to the Qi team; their commitment is testament to the industry’s need for fact-based analysis rather than opinion-based macro research to explain the dynamics of asset prices. We believe using AI and machine learning based models together with quality data provides a clear competitive advantage to discretionary managers, and we look forward to further developing our offerings to help investors make sense of today’s complex trading environment.”
