iCapital Network, the financial technology platform democratizing alternative investments for high-net-worth individuals and their advisors, announced it has been selected as a top fintech firm in the 2018 Forbes Fintech 50 list.

Forbes has published its third Fintech 50 list, which highlights the top 50 innovative financial technology startups in the areas of investing, trading, wealth management, lending, personal finance, financial information and data, cryptocurrencies and blockchain, payments, business services and capital markets. The list of 50 is chosen from among hundreds of nominations reviewed by Forbes, and iCapital is one of only 22 newcomers to the list.

"We are honored to be recognized among this esteemed group of firms on the cutting edge of the financial technology and investing industries," said Lawrence Calcano, Chief Executive Officer of iCapital Network. "Our mission is to bring tech-enabled accessibility, transparency and education to the alternative investing industry, and to allow the high-net-worth community access to high-quality investing opportunities previously out of their reach. We're thrilled at this affirmation of our success."

Individual investors remain significantly under-allocated to alternative investments relative to institutional investors, but are increasingly exploring the critical role alternatives can play in state-of-the-art portfolio construction. iCapital's online platform facilitates access to private investment opportunities through an independent origination and due diligence process that prioritizes quality offerings from an array of managers, and provides an end-to-end technology solution automating the unique subscription, administration, and reporting processes of alternative investments.

As of December 31, 2017, iCapital serviced approximately $5.2 billion in platform assets, which represents a more than 1500% increase from 2015. The platform services over 115 private access vehicles for approximately 10,000 domestic and international investor accounts. Additionally, iCapital has secured over $50 million in funding, including strategic investments from some of the largest firms operating in the wealth advisory industry, including Credit SuisseBlackRockMorgan Stanley and UBS among other strategic investors. The iCapital team has grown to over 90 employees.
