B-Corporation status certifies a company's commitment to its social and environmental impact, not just profit-making - and for 2025, the B Corp Month campaign theme is ‘Gen B’, positioning B Corps as a new generation of business, redefining what good looks like.

Three years after becoming the world's first B-Corporation certified payroll company, PayCaptain – a cloud-based payroll software solution – continues to demonstrate how the company is a genuine advocate for stakeholder benefits, including their workforce, clients, the environment, the local community and shareholders.

Simon Bocca, founder and CEO at PayCaptain, shared: “I’m incredibly proud that PayCaptain is a fully certified B-Corporation. From day one we’ve used the B-Corporation framework as our guide rail for being the best company we can be. We’re dedicated to creating positive experiences for our own employees as well as those of our clients.

“Plus, in 2022 we also received two prestigious B Corp ‘Best For The World’ awards. This amazing recognition is for being within the top 5% of highest scorers within both the Workers and Governance impact areas AND to be part of the 7% of 5,000 companies worldwide to win multiple awards. Winning awards in both of these areas is such an amazing achievement for us and drives us even more to maintain and improve our business to be a force for good”.

PayCaptain uses the latest thinking to provide a payroll and financial wellness solution for innovative and socially responsible companies that understand the importance of good financial wellbeing for their workforce. Its mission is to put people in control of the money they earn by empowering them to manage their money in the best possible way. This helps them towards a better standard of living, a longer, healthier, happier and more financially-secure life and helps them plan for a better retirement.

Anna Buckle, director of operations and impact at PayCaptain, commented: “To become B-Corporation certified in 2022, PayCaptain met stringent selection criteria, whilst demonstrating their social and environmental impact. The company was assessed on multiple factors including governance, employee benefits, stakeholder engagement and impact on the community and environment”.

Based on the B Impact assessment, PayCaptain earned an overall score of 101.4. The median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment is currently 50.9, and a score of 80+ qualifies for B Corp certification.
