Atos, a global leader in digital transformation, today welcomes the recommendations from the Industrial Digitalisation Review, chaired by Siemens UK CEO Professor Juergen Maier.

Released this morning, the Review outlines proposals aimed to boost the competitive advantage of UK industry and foster future economic growth by boosting skills and utilising new technologies like artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality and 3D printing.

The recommendations will now be considered by the government and used to inform a future sector deal between Government and industry.

These significant proposals include the creation of a Single Industrial Digitalisation Skills Strategy and the establishment of the Made Smarter UK (MSUK) Commission, which would be responsible for the promotion of the UK as a global hub for digital skills.

Atos UK&I Chief Executive Adrian Gregory was a member of the review team and worked closely with Chair Juergen Maier to develop and drive forward the Review’s proposals for the UK’s digital skills agenda.

Adrian Gregory, Chief Executive UK&I at Atos said:

I have been very proud to be a part of this Review which comes at a crucial time for the future of UK industry.  The proposals and recommendations at the heart of the Review will help drive competitive advantage for this country.  The recommendations on education, the development of skills and upskilling are absolutely essential to meet the challenges of the future.

“As industry moves forward into this supercharged digital age, a strong combination of industry, academia and government will be essential for the UK to grasp the opportunities that this fourth industrial revolution presents.  It is critical that we develop, upskill and migrate jobs into new digital industries to build on the UK’s existing strengths in the technology sector while encouraging a new generation of entrepreneurs to develop the products that will help deliver future revolutions in industry.”

The continued evolution towards end-to-end digital transformation is something that Atos is seeing, not only in its own business, but in the commercial sector, particularly in the manufacturing and financial services industries.  Disruption is happening across the public sector as well, including central government, local government, ‘blue light’ services and health.

Atos has extensive end-to-end solutioning expertise in digital transformation through its Digital Transformation Factory, particularly focused on utilising hybrid cloud, digital workplace, Atos Codex and SAP HANA.

A thought leader in the digital sector, Atos has sought to demonstrate in its recent series of Digital Vision papers the potential of digitalisation to society and industry in areas such as health and government; it has also shown how the effective use of big data and supercomputing can deliver improved services and productivity, underpinned by advanced cyber security. This makes Atos well-placed to highlight the ways in which organisations can embrace digital disruption.
