Global law firm Hogan Lovells has hired Frank Brown as Senior Director to head its market-leading UK Financial Services Regulatory Consulting practice.

The firm’s Financial Services Regulatory Consulting practice was launched in 2017 as a strategic response to Brexit uncertainty in the financial services sector. At the time of its launch, Hogan Lovells became the first global law firm to offer a combination of legal and consulting services.

Emily Reid, sponsor partner of the Consulting practice, commented: “Since launching the Financial Services Regulatory Consulting practice, we have had an overwhelmingly positive reaction from clients who have made use of our innovative offering. Frank’s experience of guiding firms through the regulatory maze, to take a right-sized approach to risk and reward, will help us to ensure the practice’s success and expansion.”

Brown is a senior compliance and risk professional with experience advising financial services companies on improving their control frameworks and transforming their business practices. He was most recently Practice Lead: Head of Risk & Transformation at Bovill, and prior to that held senior positions at PwC and KPMG.

Brown added: “The financial services industry is experiencing unprecedented change, with threats and opportunities in every sector: from FinTechs and alternative business models, to regulatory refocus and divergence. Against this backdrop, clients require a fresh approach to navigating complex regulations. Hogan Lovells was a first mover in this field and I am looking forward to developing the firm’s practice further to ensure it remains an innovative proposition.”

Over the past five years the Financial Services Regulatory Consulting team has grown to 11 in size, and has tackled high profile mandates including the launches of two digital only retail offerings by major global financial institutions, as well as tackling a breadth of work driven by a diverse array of regulation. Clients include large multinational banks, insurers and corporates, challenger banks, and FinTech and crypto start-ups.
