Trading and investing platform eToro, announced it has achieved SOC 2 Type II compliance certification, demonstrating a strong commitment to operational excellence throughout its cryptoasset custody operations.

Dr. Hedva Ber, Deputy CEO and COO at eToro said: “Achieving the SOC 2 Type II compliance certification once again underscores our commitment to operational excellence in crypto custody. eToro clients entrust us with their funds, and in turn we implement and maintain the highest standards for the systems and processes throughout our operations. This certification validates our dedication to safeguarding our customers’ cryptoassets with robust security controls and industry best practices.”

Developed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the SOC 2 Type II certification is a rigorous, independent audit that evaluates a service organisation’s security controls over an extended period. The certification process assesses compliance with five trust service criteria—security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy—ensuring customers and partners that the organisation has implemented and maintains robust security measures to protect sensitive data.

The SOC 2 Type II certification was issued by Grant Thornton following an extensive audit of eToro’s systems, processes, and controls from July 1, 2023, to August 30, 2024. Grant Thornton issued an unqualified opinion signifying that eToro’s cryptoasset custody controls were effectively designed and operating throughout the testing period, meeting the requisite SOC II compliance objectives.
