Revel Systems, the leader in iPad Point of Sale Solutions, today announced a global framework agreement with Shell Retail, which allows for the implementation of Revel’s iPad based POS system services at selected retail fuel sites worldwide. This agreement follows a proof of concept in 2015 - 2016.

Revel is an iPad Point of Sale solution for single and multi-location businesses founded on the mission of keeping business owners and operators ahead of the game. With their native cloud platform and open API business model, Revel easily integrates with companies and their ecosystem partners, making it an easy choice for Shell, who work with numerous vendors and partners. Revel's real-time data reporting and modern hardware provides Shell retailers with the ability to instantly know the state of their business through a mobile, easy to use anywhere anytime, accessible system. Additionally, remote access and support significantly reduces labor costs.

This collaboration is a prime example of cloud-based technologies reaching far beyond small businesses. Complex enterprise environments have traditionally been unreachable ventures for tablet or cloud-based point of sale vendors. Revel Systems has created a platform that is unlike competing systems, with a highly scalable architecture, allowing for global flexibility in enterprise environments like Shell’s. Revel's highly secure and scalable cloud-based platform enables rapid delivery of customer value propositions and helps implementers stay ahead of evolving technologies like mobile payments and personalised mobile loyalty.

“Fuel retail is one of the largest retail industries in the world and due to its level of complexity and scale of deployments, many of these companies are forced to evolve at a slower rate,” said Lisa Falzone, co-founder and CEO of Revel Systems. “We’re excited to announce our partnership at Revelry and collaborate with Shell and enable business growth in the fuel retail market.”

Revel Systems provides customers with an improved experience through technology at the point of purchase. The Revel platform allows for:

  • Secure fuel and convenience store card payments
  • Managing pumps and wet stock inventory both straight from the iPad and remotely
  • Developing loyalty programs for customers
  • Ease in real time track of convenience store inventory
  • Allowing customers to refuel, shop for items in store and pay in one place
  • Operating and accepting payments in offline mode

Revel’s infrastructure helps in centrally managing fuel stations and markets more effectively, while complying with data security standards. In addition, Shell will have access to the power of Revel’s always-on, hybrid architecture, allowing for seamless transition between both online and offline mode.

“Improving our customer journey and experience whilst keeping all of our sites running with quick and easy service is paramount,” said Maggie van’t Hoff, CIO, Shell Retail. “With Revel Systems we are implementing new tablets and payment options that are easy to use, innovative and will improve the customer experience so that customers keep coming back to Shell.”

Chris Ciabarra, co-founder and CTO of Revel Systems, said, “We are pleased to announce that we have been working with Shell to provide technology as a service in an environment that not only allows Shell retailers to deliver exciting innovation today, but one that will future proof business in a way that is compliant and completely secure. We are confident that this technology and method of delivering through site systems as a service, will be adopted throughout the fuel industry and beyond.”

Revel Systems has already deployed more than 25,000+ terminals for other customers. The company has raised over $130 million in funding to date.
