BPC Banking Technologies, a world leading provider of payment solutions, announces that Oman Arab Bank (OAB) has selected SmartVista suite to enhance its payment business. SmartVista is to replace the existing legacy ACI Open2 platform to enable the bank to meet its objective of having a modern and flexible platform to continue to adapt to the changing retail banking market.

Following a full review and bid process and with the changing shape of retail banking within Oman driving the need to change, OAB selected SmartVista from BPC over both ACI and HPS to replace the existing payments switch to ensure it was prepared for all future challenges. This choice will enable the bank to manage its ATM estate more effectively, comply with future standards for the introduction of EMV alongside modern and flexible card issuing capabilities and fraud prevention.

In the future OAB will offer EMV compliant Visa card products as well as support local cards (Islamic) based on Visa Electron. The bank will also acquire AmEx cards for the first time. With the introduction of SmartVista the bank will provide support for e-commerce for Visa debit cards issued by OAB.

“Transforming customer experience is always heavily reliant on investing and improving on technologies within the retail business. The partnership with BPC gives us an ability to innovate products and adapt our business offerings to changing consumer demands. We expect our clients to be delighted not only with the enhanced level of security but also the many feature rich products that we will be introducing with the help of the new solution”, says Fahd Amjad, GM Retail Banking at Oman Arab Bank.

Angelo Bertini, MD MENA, BPC Banking Technologies, added “Although the project has just begun, with Oman Arab Bank we see huge delivery opportunities via SmartVista, among which are total control of its reloaded card business, terminal network management improvements and crucially the future flexibility and control to introduce new products and services easily. We believe that even now the benefits of choosing SmartVista are obvious: OpEx reduction, speed to market, the introduction of new products and services for the banks customers and regulatory compliance”.
