CaixaBank has created a new AI and Data Department with the aim of strengthening the role of data and artificial intelligence as strategic levers for the Group's transformation. The new unit will drive the development and adoption of AI-based solutions in a scalable, secure and responsible way, while consolidating an integrated view on data management and harnessing.

The management was created to coordinate the data and artificial intelligence capabilities already existing in the entity in a transversal way and act as a point of connection between the business and technology areas. Its mission will be to identify application opportunities, accelerate their implementation and make it easier for these initiatives to generate a tangible impact on customers, employees and business. It will be led by Juan Arandilla, a professional with extensive experience in technological transformation, enterprise architecture and data management in the financial sector, under the direction of the Media Area, led by Luis Javier Blas.

In a context marked by rapid technological evolution, the new structure will allow the Group to have a unified vision on strategy, data governance, artificial intelligence and industrialization of solutions. In addition, it will contribute to streamlining decision-making, prioritizing investments and extending capabilities and knowledge to the entire organization under a common framework of security and control.

With this commitment, CaixaBank seeks to continue improving the experience of its customers through more personalised, agile and simple services. The use of artificial intelligence will make it possible to anticipate needs, optimise recommendations and simplify processes, always maintaining the principles of transparency, trust and human supervision.

The new leadership will also have an important role internally. Its objective is to deploy tools that facilitate access to knowledge, automate administrative tasks and bring advanced analytical capabilities to a greater number of professionals, allowing teams to focus on activities with greater added value and customer service.

Currently made up of more than 40 professionals specialized in areas such as data governance, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, engineering and transformation, the AI and Data Department will drive the entire life cycle of the initiatives, from the identification of opportunities to their development, deployment and monitoring, ensuring regulatory compliance and adequate management of the associated risks.
