Plaid, a leading financial data infrastructure company, has reportedly closed a new funding round that values the firm at approximately $8 billion. The exact sum raised has not been publicly disclosed, with the capital said to be structured primarily to provide existing employees a means to convert their equity holdings into cash while the company remains privately held.

The latest round marks a significant step up from the $6.1 billion valuation assigned to Plaid during its April 2025 fundraise, when the company secured $575 million in a round led by Franklin Templeton. That figure itself represented a steep correction from the $13.4 billion valuation Plaid commanded in 2021, at the height of a global surge in financial technology investment.
