Consumers Credit Union (CCU; $2.6 Billion, Gurnee, IL) recently held its 91st Annual Meeting at Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee, adhering to COVID guidelines for gatherings. Members and guests in attendance received a comprehensive update from CEO, Sean M. Rathjen, on the member-owned credit union’s performance, which included the 2020 Annual Report and an overview of Consumers Credit Union’s future plans.

A significant difference between credit unions and banks is a volunteer Board of Directors elected by its members. The results of this year’s election are as follows: Spiro Giotis of Hawthorne Woods, Bob Hubberts of Arlington Heights, Spiridoula “Litza” Mavrothalasitis of Chicago, and Demar Harris of Waukegan. The elected Board Members will each serve a three-year term.

CCU’s Executive Committee for the coming year was selected on Thursday, March 25, the first regular monthly Board Meeting following the Annual Meeting. The member-owned credit union’s Executive Committee now consists of Scott Drabicki of Vernon Hills, Chairman; John Fiore of Carol Stream, Vice-Chair; Frank Soyka of Green Oaks, Treasurer; Denise Charts of Libertyville, Secretary; John R. Janezic of Green Oaks, Position At-Large. The remaining Board Members include Michael D. Annes of Highland Park; Ann Campanella of Gurnee; Benjamin Olson of Schaumburg; and Joseph M. Rajcevich of Waukegan.

“The meeting is unique to credit unions, as members have a direct voice in the election of their Board of Directors in the most transparent environment possible,” said Sean Rathjen, CEO. “This year, we were fortunate to have 12 candidates interested in serving on the Board, which is comprised of Consumers Credit Union members. We are truly grateful.”
