TIBCO Software Inc., a global leader in integration, analytics, and event processing is to drive a new era at Skipton Building Society by enabling it to seize more opportunities in the digital space through the adoption of its middleware solutions.

Described as a major step for the 162-year-old mutual, the move will see TIBCO simplify and accelerate the integration of Skipton’s IT infrastructure. In doing so, it will help drive greater alignment and efficiency, and better meet the demands of a fast-evolving environment and a more digitally empowered customer base.

Comprising TIBCO Enterprise Message Service™, TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks™ 6 and TIBCO® API Exchange, TIBCO’s middleware will lead to a more agile way of working, as well as more flexible and aligned customer service offering. With the majority of mortgage lending now managed through an online portal and digital technologies defining many of the customer transactions, an evolution in how Skipton delivers its services had become a priority for the business established and headquartered in North Yorkshire.

Central to this has been an overhaul of the legacy IT architecture which was not originally designed to support shared services, or processes through multi-channel offerings. This in turn limits the ability to respond effectively and cost efficiently to an array of demands, including the need to exploit opportunities as they arise.

A proven track record and personal touch were determining factors in Skipton’s decision to appoint TIBCO as a strategic partner to help realise its ambitious vision and aspirations for the future.

“We wanted to move quickly on this, work with someone who had done it before and who would engage us in the process from the start, which TIBCO did,” said Skipton’s Chief Operating Officer Henry Varney. “This is a huge step for Skipton which establishes our direction for the next 10 years and is a big investment for our future. We’re very proud of our heritage and we want to align this with new technology that allows people to interact with us through channels that are right for them.”

Andy Menzies, TIBCO regional vice president, sales, UK and Ireland, added: “As such an established institution, helping to realise this new chapter for Skipton and cement its technological future is an incredible opportunity. To date, the project has been defined by a close partnership and key to this is empowering Skipton to become self-supporting, so it has the tools and technology in place to adapt to change, and recognise what it needs to best serve its customers and their evolving requirements.”
