BSO, the leading global telecoms operator powering the digital age, has been awarded Connectivity Provider of the Year at the FOW International Awards 2020.

The judges praised how BSO serves the fast-moving needs of the finance community and its experience in building low latency, high-performance solutions that trading firms can rely on.

BSO’s global network reaches 33 countries, 85 cities, and over 250 data centre locations, connecting all major trading venues and exchanges across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and North America.

Michael Ourabah, Chief Executive Officer at BSO, said: “This award is a true testament of our long-standing history serving the world's largest financial institutions. FOW’s extensive coverage means its editors see the best of the best, day after day. To take home this honour is a proud moment for our team and demonstrates our industry experience, innovation and ability to engineer ground-breaking solutions that international financial firms trust.”

In particular, the judging panel noted how successfully BSO overcame the challenges associated with building its radio frequency (RF) network in the Americas. This world-first offering connects Nasdaq, NYSE, CME and TMX together with the lowest latencies in the industry.

BSO was also commended for its cloud-based low latency infrastructure for cryptocurrency trading, as well as its launch of Crosslake Fibre, the fastest route between Toronto and New Jersey, and its strong partnerships with Google Cloud, Alibaba, Oracle and AWS. The judges equally highlighted BSO’s partnership with Stake Capital and cryptocurrency exchange, Gemini.

Luke Jeffs, Managing Editor at Global Investor Group, said: “BSO consolidated in 2020 its position as the market-leader in trading connectivity. The firm has made great strides in its development and deployment of RF technology and worked hard to answer many of the problems that institutional investors and investment banks have with crypto-currencies such as bitcoin.”

Now in its 10th year, the FOW International Awards recognise the very best in innovation, achievement and commitment to the market in the global cleared derivatives industry.

The awards are judged by FOW’s editorial team and a panel of industry experts in a range of disciplines. FOW is considered essential reading for those involved in global derivatives and risk management. The publication is part of Global Investor Group.
