GlobalPlatform, the association which standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology, has confirmed that Nicolas Popp, Vice President, Information Protection at Symantec, will deliver the keynote address at its third annual trusted execution environment (TEE) conference, which takes place in Santa Clara, California on Tuesday, October 13.

In his opening address at “GlobalPlatform Presents the TEE: Next Generation Mobile Security for Today and Tomorrow,” Nicolas will offer insight into identity theft trends, while underlining the importance of transitioning from static to dynamic authentication using cryptographic secrets, hardware protection and secure protocols. Nicolas will also explain why the TEE offers a solution to weak payment card and password authentication on connected devices.

Registration has now opened for GlobalPlatform’s dedicated TEE Conference. In addition to Nicolas, the agenda will feature fifteen influential industry representatives from the secure mobile services and connected devices markets who will take part in interactive roundtable discussions, allowing maximum delegate participation, on the following themes:

  • TEE standardization efforts. A look at what is being done to simplify the deployment of trusted applications in open environments.
  • Use cases. Illustrations of the value that the TEE offers service providers across a range of industries and applications, including premium content protection, mobile payments, authentication, bring your own device (BYOD) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Certification. Why the industry needs a TEE certification and security evaluation program and what benefits it brings to vendors and service providers when deploying TEE technology.

“Connected devices are fast becoming the entry point to digital life for consumers,” said Kevin Gillick, Executive Director of GlobalPlatform. “It’s great news for consumers that they can now download movies, make banking transactions and access a building or network with a connected device, but the richness and connectivity of today’s smart devices brings new security concerns for service providers. Our third annual TEE conference – the industry’s only comprehensive event focused on the advancing TEE landscape – will demonstrate the value of GlobalPlatform’s standardized and certified TEE as a security solution to meet the evolving needs of many different markets.”

The conference will be of interest to software vendors, device manufacturers, platform providers, mobile network operators and service providers including financial institutions, remote content distributors and companies working to develop enterprise solutions.

The day before the main TEE conference, GlobalPlatform will host a full-day TEE Application Developers Workshop. The session, which takes place on Monday, October 12, will provide an education on how to use already available development tools/platforms to create a trusted application based on GlobalPlatform TEE Specifications. The workshop is aimed at solution architects, application developers, service providers and other professionals engaged in the development and testing of trusted applications.

At the time of this release, GlobalPlatform member, Trustonic is the platinum sponsor of the conference. FIME, Gemalto, Intercede, Riscure and Trusted Labs are supporting the conference as gold sponsors. To register for the conference or workshop and to view the full agenda, visit www.teeseminar.org.
