Thomson Reuters has released Thomson Reuters Authenticator, a multi-factor authentication app (Apple and Android compatible). It provides user verification using two forms of identity at a minimum, ensuring firms and their clients better protection against cyber threats. 

With this new tool (or app), Thomson Reuters provides embedded security controls that offer convenient and secure user authentication for firm staff and firm clients. When multi-factor authentication is enabled, users and their clients are granted access to data or an application only after presenting pieces of evidence from two or more of the following categories:

• Something you know (e.g., password)
• Something you have (e.g., phone)
• Something you are (e.g., fingerprint)

Thomson Reuters Authenticator is available for both cloud-based and desktop deployments, and gives partners and firm leaders peace of mind amidst the backdrop of a profession increasingly under attack from cyber criminals. To use Thomson Reuters Authenticator, users pair their mobile devices with their CS Professional accounts; when they subsequently sign into their software, they use their mobile devices to approve the sign in attempt.

The new Thomson Reuters Authenticator security tool (or app) has been implemented for all products in the Thomson Reuters Professional CS suite – even on-premise software – which allows firms to adopt state-of-the-art security measures across the board. Easy to use and requiring a simple one-time set up, Thomson Reuters Authenticator allows firms to require all staff to use multi-factor authentication for exceptional security and to allow clients to opt-in as needed or advised by the firm.
