Pension-finding platform, Raindrop, has today announced the appointment of Guy Opperman as Non-Executive Director (NED) to its Board of Directors.

Guy Opperman was formerly the UK’s longest serving pensions minister, in role from June 2017 to July 2022, when he was instrumental in boosting engagement, expanding auto enrolment and growing the master trust market. He was also the Financial Inclusion Minister who championed tech disruptors which allowed individual citizens to improve their finances.

Raindrop’s pension finding technology collaborates with some the UK’s largest pension providers and financial advisors including AJ Bell, Monzo and Mylo from Aegon to help savers reunite with their pension pots.

As NED at Raindrop, Guy Opperman will play a key role in Raindrop’s continued growth as the platform unlocks UK savers’ access to simple pension finding tools as it continues to develop new transformational products for financial institutions to offer their customers.

With research from the Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) revealing that £31.1 billion is estimated to be sitting in lost pension pots in 3.3 million lost pots in the UK, there is a need for effective pension tracing solutions.

In total since launch, Raindrop has located over £1.6 billion in pension savings from 172,000 lost or forgotten pots for customers and has already found over 62,000 lost or forgotten pots for savers during 2026.

The fintech boasts a strong product roadmap to support savers with tracking down lost pots and enabling consolidation to boost UK retirement outcomes. With the addition of Guy Opperman to Raindrop’s leadership team, the scale-up is on track to cement its position as the go-to pensions tracing player in the UK.

Vivan Shridharani, Co-Founder & CCO at Raindrop, comments: “Attracting one of the most respected voices in pensions is a major coup for Raindrop and highlights the importance of our solution in tackling the issue of a lack of transparency in pensions. We are very excited to appoint Guy to our Board of Directors where he will play a leading role as Raindrop continues to unlock access to simple tracing tools and his invaluable expertise will be key to future product development and business growth.

"There is huge consumer demand for simple pension-finding tools as people look to take control of their retirement savings. Simple solutions such as Raindrop allow savers to simply track down their lost pots with minimal hassle and play a central role in supporting consolidation.

"Raindrop is a massive addition to providers’ efforts to grow their customer base, expand their assets under management whilst offering enhanced support and value. Guy strongly believes in the power of Raindrop’s offering and, as we continue our strong growth trajectory, he will play a key role in working alongside our partners as we further expand across the UK pensions and wealth market.”

Guy Opperman, NED at Raindrop, adds: “I am delighted to be joining a great British tech disruptor that is transforming people's lives and finances. I look forward to supporting Raindrop’s continued strong growth. I have been really impressed with the work of the founders who have built an innovative platform that delivers real impact to both UK savers as well as pension providers.

"As Raindrop continues to transform individual people’s finances, it will also prove to be the vital add-on to the UK master trusts and other wealth providers who operate in this space. A private sector solution like Raindrop will be further enhanced by the eventual arrival of the Pensions Dashboard in the UK, whenever that will be.

“Raindrop has already demonstrated its positive impact, as it continues its scale-up journey I believe it will cement its position as the go-to pensions tracing player in the UK and be the next British tech success story.”
