A SILICON Valley veteran has made the move from eBay to Capital One UK.

Aline Baeck has joined the company in the newly-created position of head of design, following roles at Intuit, Causata, and most recently, eBay.

Aline said: “The biggest draw to work for an organisation like this is their clear vision for change and to be a disruptive force in the financial industry. What’s become apparent very quickly is Capital One is operating at the intersection of technology and financial services.

“I’m excited to bring my expertise in a way which transforms and builds upon the great relationships we share with our customers”.

Aline has over 20 years’ experience in fostering design-thinking and building creative teams, firstly in Silicon Valley with Intuit before moving to big data software start-up Causata in London.

Prior to joining Capital One, Aline was responsible for eBay’s European design team and was a key contributor on multiple features, including a mobile application which increased the company’s knowledge of global markets.

Amy Lenander, chief marketing officer at Capital One, said: “I’m thrilled to announce Aline’s appointment, particularly because she will be expanding our design team and working across the business to embed design in the way we create products and effortless experiences for our customers.  Aline, along with our new senior software engineering appointments including Andy Reeves, who recently arrived from Amazon, will be integral to our digital transformation.”

Aline will be based at Capital One UK’s London office at Regent’s Place, whilst spending part of the week at its headquarters in Nottingham.
