Charlotte Duerden Appointed Managing Director UK, American Express

Charlotte Duerden has been appointed Managing Director UK for American Express.  Charlotte has worked for American Express since 1999 in the UK, Australia & New Zealand. Over this time she has held senior roles including Head of product, pricing & portfolio management for Europe, Director of Membership Rewards & customer engagement and Head of products, brand and marketing.

As Managing Director Charlotte has oversight of American Express’ activities in the UK. She also maintains her responsibility for leading the consumer services and international currency card businesses, including management of the company’s insurance business in the UK. 

Charlotte is a non-executive director for UK Finance, the trade association representing nearly 300 UK companies providing finance, banking, markets and payments-related services.

Charlotte is also a trustee of the Friends of St Marcellin’s Children, a charity supporting orphans and vulnerable children in Africa.

Prior to joining American Express, Charlotte worked in the telecommunications and utilities industries. She holds a degree in economics from the University of Birmingham and a masters in statistics and operational research from the University of Essex.
