U.S. banks and credit unions can now offer the UnionPay Gift Card--an ideal solution for the growing number of U.S. consumers traveling to Asia.

UnionPay Gift Cards can be used at about 34 million merchants worldwide--including 100% of merchants that accept payment cards in China. Produced and processed by FIS (NYSE: FIS), a global leader in financial services technology, the prepaid cards provide a safe and convenient payment option for consumers and business travelers headed to Asia.

"If you're going to Asia, you need a UnionPay Gift Card," said Miriam Park, General Manager of UnionPay International America. "Now consumers have the ability to get one at their local bank or credit union. This program is another step forward in establishing the UnionPay brand in North America and is a wonderful addition to a bank or credit union's payment options for its customers and members."

More than 3 million people are expected to visit China from the U.S. in 2016, according to Statista, with the number growing to 6 million in 2020. UnionPay Gift Cards are now accepted in 157 countries and regions. Upon return to the U.S., the cardholder can use any remaining funds on the card at millions of U.S. merchants.

Up to $1,000 can be loaded onto the single use UnionPay Gift Card. Financial institution clients and those with friends and family who visit China or have ties back to Asia--especially China--will appreciate the utility of the UnionPay Gift Card and the significant awareness of the UnionPay brand in Asia and beyond.

UnionPay is a registered trademark of China UnionPay Co., Ltd. The UnionPay Gift Card is a prepaid card jointly offered by FIS and UnionPay International. The card is issued by the Bancorp Bank pursuant to a license from UnionPay International Co., Ltd. The Bancorp Bank, Member FDIC.
