InterCard, a German acquirer, has chosen SIA, a company specializing in the management of electronic payments, to allow card payments in Germany with four new international schemes -Diners Club International®, Discover®, JCB and UnionPay.

Thanks to SIA’s technological infrastructure, InterCard is now able to accept payments with cards issued on some of the most widely used schemes in the United States, Japan and China. Customers from these and other countries can now comfortably use their cards for cashless payments in Germany.

SIA’s gateway acts as a hub managing network connections, specific protocols and certifications with international card schemes allowing InterCard to avoid investments in direct links with individual schemes and to achieve economies of scale. In particular, SIA’s infrastructure processes any kind of card payment transaction, performed on physical as well as virtual terminals.

As one of the leading German service providers for payments with debit and credit cards, InterCard stands in particular for merchant oriented solutions. Well-known food and fashion retailers as well as many industries are among the InterCard customers. 

InterCard owns independent licenses of Mastercard, Visa, Diners Club, Discover, JCB and UnionPay. Thus, InterCard offers merchants the acquiring for transactions of all current schemes from a single source.

Diners Club International and Discover are part of the Discover Global Network, the world’s third largest global payments network, with more than 70 million cardholders.

JCB is Japan's largest credit card issuer with more than 96 million cardholders, including 22 million outside Japan.

With more than 5 billion cards, UnionPay is the world's most widely used credit card.
