FIS™ won the “Most Disruptive” award at the 2016 PYMNTS.com/Alexa Challenge.

FIS was selected for its ability to provide millennial consumers “relevant and timely guidance to better inform their financial decisions,” according to PYMNTS.

At its annual InfoShare conference in April, FIS premiered its concept skill application, FIS Faye, which leveraged Amazon Echo’s voice platform to make Alexa an everyday coach on financial matters. Faye is a helpful, voice-activated, digital advisor that follows a millennial user through life, providing budgeting, savings, planning and wealth management tools to prepare for his or her financial future at every step. This is important because, as reported by FIS’ recentPACE Index survey, 72% of banked millennials have no form of financial advisor, and nine out of 10 of them foresee a life event in the next 36 months that will significantly impact their finances.

FIS Faye gives millennials a more complete picture of the services banks can provide them, at times most relevant to them, by making the search process invisible, and by delivering options that are tailored to their needs.

“We were excited to push the limits of how FIS Faye could engage people in a new, meaningful way,” said Doug Brown, SVP and GM of Mobile at FIS. “Working in our ‘Garage,’ where we’re focused on developing innovations for the future of banking and payments, we looked at how Alexa could help people meet their financial needs – day-to-day and throughout life.”

Twelve teams and 14 companies took part in the five-week competition, which tasked competitors with building an interactive showcase for Alexa by reimagining “how consumers interact with their payments and financial services solutions providers.”
