Arab Bank and JCB International Launch JCB Merchant Acquiring Operations in Jordan

Arab Bank has recently launched, in collaboration with JCB International Co., Ltd., the international operations subsidiary of JCB Co., Ltd., the merchant acquiring operations for JCB cards in Jordan. This will allow JCB cards issued in countries around the world to be used at participating merchants throughout Jordan.

Through this collaboration, Arab Bank will expand payment methods available to JCB cardholders, both Jordanian residents and visitors, allowing them to make payments easily via the bank’s extensive point of sale (POS) network across all areas and governorates of the Kingdom. This step will also support tourism and business sectors in Jordan.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Yacoub Matouk, Head of Consumer Banking at Arab Bank, said: “Through this cooperation with JCB, we aim to expand the electronic payment methods in Jordan.” He added, “At Arab Bank, we continue to offer innovative banking solutions and services that meet diverse needs and align with our digital transformation strategy to reinforce the digital banking services both locally and regionally.”

Mr. Yuichiro Kadowaki, Managing Director of JCB Card International – South Asia region, also expressed his delight at launching the service, stating: “Jordan is one of the attractive travel destinations for JCB cardmembers. With the Kingdom’s iconic sites such as Petra, one of the seven wonders of the world and the Dead Sea, it makes the country a very interesting touristic destination and I am delighted that we have entered into this partnership with Arab Bank. This will indeed cater to both the business and touristic needs of our cardholders.”

This collaboration comes in line with Arab Bank’s constant efforts to provide advanced digital banking services and solutions that meet the evolving needs of clients and visitors across various sectors, and it also reflects the bank’s continuous commitment to reinforcing its banking products and services.
