Kamina And Mastercard Announce Strategic Alliance To Boost Financial Wellness And Inclusion In Ecuador

The financial ecosystem in Latin America continues to evolve, focusing on delivering more comprehensive and effective services to its users. Countries like Brazil have already implemented programs offering tailored financial support, enabling individuals to manage their finances more effectively.

In Ecuador, Kamina, a leading platform in debt management and financial wellness, and Mastercard, a global leader in payment technology, have announced a strategic alliance. This collaboration aims to project with local banking institutions to drive financial inclusion across the country.

The initiative seeks to enhance new options in how to pay, including payment cards, by providing individuals with sustainable financial solutions to improve their well-being, gain better control over their financial future, and minimize the late payments.

“When we created the Kamina platform, our goal was to design a tool that brings stakeholders together—whether to offer or receive solutions. Our mission is to transform financial behavior to prevent stress and delinquency. By combining technology and social sciences, we diagnose users’ financial health and guide them in decision-making. Partnering with Mastercard allows us to reach more people and expand our impact across the region,” said Jens Thobo, CEO of Kamina.

Kamina employs predictive technology, behavioral science, and financial data to power AI algorithms capable of forecasting financial crises. These capabilities enable tailored interventions that support financial decision-making and alleviate challenges for all ecosystem participants.

The project will analyze millions of users, leveraging over 1,000 prevention variables to generate personalized alerts. Through a Financial Health Index, users will receive tailored solutions to preempt financial issues. Additionally, the platform will provide active learning opportunities in financial education and methodologies to encourage positive behavioral changes.

The collaboration between Mastercard and Kamina marks a significant step towards continuing to contribute to sustainable growth and promoting financial well-being and inclusion for millions of people in the country.
