investUP (known as UP), the crowdfunding supermarket, has appointed Cary Depel as its Compliance and Legal Director. Cary will bring more than 20 years’ experience with him and will be responsible for compliance and legal, helping to transform the crowdfunding landscape.

Drawing on his considerable experience as Board Director and Compliance Officer, as well as a career as an established US attorney and UK solicitor, Cary will work closely with investUP Managing Director James Tuckett and the investUP board of directors in taking investUP’s proposition to the next level. UP brings the lending crowdfunding market together in one place, enabling users to invest via one centralised portfolio (Peer-to-Peer and equity coming soon). It allows investors to search for deals from all their favourite crowdfunding sites, uniquely invest in these without leaving the site and then keep track of their investments. UP is completely free, with no hidden costs. It revolutionises the market by bringing simplicity and increasing choice for users, in a simple, elegant and straightforward way.

From 2008-2010, Cary served as General Counsel and Human Resource Director at LMAX Exchange, the world’s first retail derivatives exchange platform. Previously, he was Compliance and Legal Director at ECU Group and at IFX Markets before that. He also serves as a Non-Executive Director for a number of technology firms and is a Member of the Leadership Council for The CPCU Society.

“It is an exciting time as the industry is looking at crowdfunding as a major new way to finance the economy and fund entrepreneurship. investUP is well placed to work with the crowdfunding sites and individual investors to transform the way that investors manage their entire investment portfolio. I look forward to working with the team at an exciting time in their development and to help them grow this innovative solution,” said Cary Depel, Compliance and Legal Director, investUP.

Cary began his career as an intellectual property associate at law firm Crosby, Heafey, Roach & May. He received his BSc in business and law from Indiana University, and most recently his Master of Laws from King’s College London.

“We are extremely happy to have Cary join us,” added James Tuckett, Managing Director, investUP. “Cary is a truly exceptional US attorney, UK solicitor and compliance officer who brings with him a wealth of experience. The world of fintech and the crowdfunding market in particularly is flourishing, and with Cary’s expertise, we hope to continue to build the future UP offering and allow our users to invest in the most efficient way.”
