Discover Financial Services Named as One of the Top Employers for Asian Pacific Americans

For the second year in a row, Discover Financial Services has been recognized by the Asia Society as one of the top employers for Asian Pacific Americans. The 2016 Asian Pacific American Employer Awards honor companies at the forefront of promoting Asian Pacific American employees and global diversity. This year, Discover was named the nation’s Best Employer for Asian Pacific American Employee Resource Groups.

In addition, Discover was recognized in the following categories:

  • 2016 Best Overall Employer for Asian Pacific Americans: Distinguished Performance
  • 2016 Best Employer for Asian Pacific Americans to Develop Workforce Skills: Distinguished Performance
  • 2016 Best Practices Company: Asian Pacific American Employee Resource Groups
  • 2016 Best Practices Company: Diversity

“As a global company, Discover takes great pride in the diversity of its workforce,” said Jim Panzarino, president of Discover’s credit card operations. “This recognition from the Asia Society reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing work environment for our employees.”

The Asian Pacific American Employer Awards are based on the results of the Asian Pacific American Corporate Survey, a national benchmark study about the growth, development and advancement of Asian Pacific American employees in Fortune 500 and other large companies. Winners are selected based on a statistical analysis of internal employee surveys distributed to Asian Pacific Americans.

Discover was formally honored at the eighth Diversity Leadership Forum on June 9 at the Asia Society in New York City. Asia Society is a leading educational organization dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among people, leaders and institutions of Asia and the U.S. in a global context.

“Asian Pacific Americans have contributed immensely to the success of U.S. businesses. Recognizing and developing these employees is not only the right thing to do, but it is also a prerequisite for attracting and retaining top talent,” said David Whitelaw Reid, Asia Society’s executive director for global talent initiatives. “We congratulate all the winning companies, and urge other employers to follow their lead.”
