Property investment platform British Pearl has launched an ‘Application Programming Interface’ (API) to widen its reach and attract new investors, and is the first UK proptech firm to open up its data to the public in this way.

The benefits of British Pearl’s API (BPAPI) will include:

  • Connectivity: BPAPI will allow full investor onboarding and account integration with third party services such as the challenger banks. We are actively working on partnerships to enhance our investors’ experience.
  • Data transparency: The BPAPI unlocks data for investors on their own accounts, enabling them to save, validate, and analyse data, providing a high level of transparency
  • Innovative applications: Applications can be developed by analysing detailed historical data and providing an independent view on portfolio performance, and will ultimately incorporate enhanced functionality and trading algorithms
  • New markets: The dashboard application shows British Pearl’s portfolio valuation without the need to visit the British Pearl website, opening it up to new markets

BPAPI will offer maximum security, shielding investors from third party risk. Every third party applying for access to the BPAPI will undergo an extensive cyber-security and legibility review process, preventing unauthorised use of the application.

Ali Celiker, CEO of British Pearl said: “We are extremely proud to be the first UK PropTech platform to offer a public API. Our Technology Department has worked hard to achieve this milestone. It is a game changer for our business and we anticipate that it will improve liquidity for our investors, bring in new revenue streams and expand our business reach.”

British Pearl launched to the UK market in July 2018, backed by a £7m investment round led by Conservative peer and hedge fund investor Lord Stanley Fink. The platform offers investors the opportunity to buy shares in property or make secured loans with a minimum investment of £100.
