One of the industry’s most long-standing IT Support Specialists, Barron McCann, has become the only PCI SSC Qualified Integrator and Reseller accredited IT service provider in the UK, reflecting the importance that is being placed on the compliance of suppliers working within the retail and financial services sector.

The PCI landscape is becoming increasingly complex, with the imminent introduction of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation by 2018, the deadline for the end of PCI DSS v3.1 in October ‘16^[1], and several PSPs such as Visa Europe announcing a mandate for all PEDs to support contactless payment within the next few years. It is therefore important for retailers in all market sectors to be working with service providers who fully understand not just the mechanism of their projects, but the broader PCI compliance picture.

The accreditation enables Barron McCann to work with any organisation that uses or is associated with payment cards, including merchants, financial institutions, point-of-sale vendors, and hardware and software developers who create and operate the global infrastructure for processing payments.

Barron McCann has already demonstrated its competency in PCI DSS through its recent appointment by Skipton Building Society to upgrade their Chip and PIN provisions across their branch network. Barron McCann’s services were recommended by Ingenico – the only company producing P2PE compliant PEDs at the time – following successful work together on previous projects. For Skipton Building Society, Barron McCann delivered a fully managed P2PE compliant rollout and support programme, from the arrival of the PEDs from the manufacturer, through installation to ongoing repair and maintenance support.
