Accenture will provide Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC) with application services. In this role, Accenture will support HMRC to increase its use of digital technologies across HMRC’s primary personal tax platform, the National Insurance and PAYE Service (NPS).

Under the terms of the agreement, which runs through to June 2020, Accenture will develop, implement and maintain a secure cloud-hosted tax-management platform for individual taxpayers. The services will be provided from the Accenture Delivery Center in Newcastle, part of the Accenture Global Delivery Network.

Accenture already manages and maintains the National Insurance & PAYE Service (NPS) for HMRC, which will support HMRC’S capability to deliver faster and increasingly personalised services to U.K. taxpayers.

“In support of HMRC’s innovative and customer-focused program, we will deploy leading digital technologies to radically transform and re-engineer the National Insurance PAYE Service applications and architecture, placing them at the heart of taxation for individuals,” said Mark Larsen, managing director of Accenture’s Newcastle Delivery Centre, who leads Accenture’s work with HMRC.

HMRC is the UK tax authority. It collects taxes and duties from 45 million individuals and 5.2 million businesses, supports trade and growth through customs and pays tax credits to 4.6 million household and Child Benefit to 7.5 million families. More than 2.5 million UK citizens have accessed their Personal Tax Account (PTA) in the first six months of 2016, enabling them to check their state pension forecast, apply for marriage allowance, update income estimates, correct their tax payments and track submitted forms.
