More voices in favor of bitcoin: co-founder of Apple and Prime Minister of Slovenia talk about cryptocurrency

The blockchain and bitcoin, the most popular project based on this technology, are winning over more and more followers. At the recent conference in Las Vegas, Steve Wozniak, a co-founder of Apple, said in a well-argued manner that bitcoin was more valuable than gold and fiat currency. Soon after, Miro Cerar, the prime minister of Slovenia, delivered a long speech about the blockchain at the Digital Slovenia 2020 conference. Among other things, he said that the authorities were considering ways of applying the blockchain in the government control sector.

Co-founder of Apple about bitcoin

Steve Wozniak delivered a bombshell: he asserted that bitcoin was more stable than gold and US dollar (which he described as “kind of phony”) despite the fact that cryptocurrency was frequently criticized for its volatility.

To confirm his own words, a friend and colleague of Steve Jobs came up with argument that the amount of bitcoins was not unlimited, and their mining speed was limited to math algorithm. Whereas, gold mining can be sped up using new technologies, and additional lots of greenbacks are printed when politicians require them. “Maybe there’s a finite amount of gold in the world, but Bitcoin is even more mathematical and regulated and nobody can change mathematics,” Wozniak said.

He also believes that smart contracts and projects based on them (such as Ethereum) have a promising future: their potential is so huge that no one is currently able to describe the future application areas comprehensively.

Slovenia to be blockchain state

Recently, on October 8, Prime Minister Miro Cerar was speaking at the Digital Slovenia 2020 gathering where he gave a wide-ranging speech on the blockchain and Slovenia’s desire to adopt a new technology. According to the representative of authorities, countries accepting the blockchain and cryptocurrency now will be global leaders in the future.

Mr. Cerar stresses that Slovenia has been keeping the GDP sustained growth since 2014, and currently, the country is going out of its way to develop technologies nationwide. He thinks that Slovenia has all necessary resources to become the most blockchain-friendly EU country. Among recent novelties are re-examination of educational standards with a focus on informatics and integration of cloud technologies into the government control sector. Miro Cerar said that authorities would organize events, encouraging government bodies to integrate the blockchain.

On December 12, Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, will host Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference held by Smile-Expo, an international event company. The conference will involve startups, investors, lawyers, financial experts, and traders, allowing them to discuss Slovenia’s blockchain strategy, global trends, and legal regulation issues in the country and worldwide.
