The Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC), the leading industry association for the blockchain ecosystem, has appointed David Treat of Accenture to its Board. David is a managing director and co-lead of Accenture’s Blockchain Business.  

David joins the GBBC Board with over 20 years of experience in financial services split between consulting and industry roles spanning capital markets, retail banking, and cards.  His expertise includes running strategy functions, innovation, strategic cost management, large-scale restructuring, customer relationship management, and M&A.  

At Accenture, David is key in driving the formation of the firm’s blockchain business which now spans the globe and engages clients across all industries across a range of initiatives, from pure research and development to full-scale client business transformation. He is also Accenture’s lead for the New York Fintech Innovation Lab which is co-run by Accenture and the Partnership Fund for New York City. 

In addition to managing several of Accenture’s strategic alliances in the blockchain domain, David serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Hyperledger, a Linux Foundation Project, the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, and the ID2020 Alliance and is on the Board of Advisors of the Chamber of Digital Commerce.  He is also a Project Advisor for the World Economic Forum’s Digital Identity Initiative and the Known Traveler Digital Identity project.  

The GBBC brings together innovative organizations and founding thought-leaders from over 40 countries to advance the understanding of blockchain technology amongst global regulators and business leaders. David’s appointment to the GBBC’s Board is another strong example of the GBBC’s committed focus to gathering the best industry talent to serve as the focal point for all things blockchain.
