Tinkoff has been named Bank of the Year in Russia at the Bank of the Year Awards 2021, organized by The Banker, a leading international finance publication which is part of the Financial Times Group.

The award, regarded as the industry standard for banking excellence, highlights those institutions that have stood out among peers in terms of performance, strategic initiatives, and response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Banker recognised Tinkoff in particular for its strong financial performance in 2020, which saw net profit increase by 22% and total assets grow by 48%.

It also commended Tinkoff for its ambitious AI Banking strategy, its security platform Tinkoff Defence, and its programme to assist startups and technology projects by becoming a strategic investor or partner to promising new companies.

Stanislav Bliznyuk, Chairman of the Management Board at Tinkoff Bank, commented:

We are delighted that The Banker has once again recognized Tinkoff’s leading position in Russia’s financial space. This year has seen us achieve many important milestones, ranging from being designated as a systemically important financial institution to launching new and innovative business lines, including Tinkoff Private that focuses on serving the modern affluent consumer. We are continuing to innovate and serve our expanding customer base, currently numbering almost 20 million people.’’

This is the third time that The Banker has awarded Tinkoff the title of Russia’s Bank of the Year, with the Company previously taking home the accolade in 2013 and 2017. Earlier this year, The Banker also ranked Tinkoff as Russia’s Best-Performing Bank on the basis of ratios used to score performance categories including growth, profitability, operational efficiency, asset quality, return on risk, liquidity, soundness and leverage.
