Silicon Valley Bank Bolsters Specialty Finance Team with Three Senior Hires

Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), the bank of the world’s most innovative companies and their investors, today announced three senior hires in its specialty finance group. Emily Barron, former head of finance at Branch International, and Brian Foley, former managing director at Macquarie Group, will be responsible for co-leading warehouse credit solutions across the US. SVB’s UK branch recently hired Folake Shasanya to lead warehouse credit solutions in the UK and EMEA.

SVB’s specialty finance group provides revolving lines of credit and term loans to companies and funds active in consumer and enterprise sectors. The specialty finance team has deep, proven expertise providing creative credit solutions in the $10 to $100 million range.

Emily Barron is a managing director based in SVB’s San Francisco office and was previously head of finance for Branch International, a Silicon Valley-based mobile financial services startup focused on emerging markets. She has also held senior finance roles at SoFi and Barclays Capital. 

Brian Foley joined SVB as a managing director in New York and most recently was a managing director at the Macquarie Group, a global financial group that provides asset management, banking, advisory and risk and capital solutions across debt, equity and commodities. Brian was also a senior member of the structured portfolios group at Bank of America.

Folake Shasanya is a director in SVB’s UK Branch and joined the company in July 2019. Folake has more than 15 years of experience specializing in structured finance, and previously led acquisition financing at RBS. She was also director of the credit division at SIFMA and was a senior structurer in the asset backed financing group at Credit Suisse.
