Trescon’s World AI Show Showcases Thailand’s AI Potential for the Future

Ever since the true essence of artificial intelligence started to dawn on the world, regional governments and enterprises are seizing the AI opportunity by reaping the maximum benefits from deploying the radically transformative technology. One of South East Asia’s largest markets, Thailand is not far behind in the global race for AI leadership and is starting to double its efforts to drive breakthroughs in AI-based technologies. To support the burgeoning artificial intelligence ecosystem of Thailand, Trescon hosted the 14th edition of its global AI conference, World AI Show to a crowd of 200+ attendees in the country’s capital city yesterday. The conference provided a platform for regional and international AI experts that included top C-level executives, investors and solution providers.
In line with the Thai government’s digital roadmap initiative to advance its economy using technology and innovation, discussions at the conference heavily concentrated on AI-based solutions that could strengthen Thailand’s industry verticals. Some of the top speakers for the conference included Annemieke De Groot, Sr. Business Partner Data & Tech Innovation Asia for AXA Insurance, Singapore; SurachaiChatchalermpun, CISO for Krungthai Bank; Suwat Meemook, Executive Vice President for Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited; Jorge Sebastiao, CTO EcoSystem for Huawei, UAE and Daniel Lui, CIO and VP Operations for Pacific Healthcare Group among other speakers.
One of the main topics of discussion was the major challenges organizations face in moving from a traditional system into digital systems. While talking about the migration of data, process changes and outsourcing or in-house development, panellist Arapat Sangkharat and Executive Vice President Digital Transformation at Krungthai Bank said, “The key here is getting organized. Transformation is going to involve peopleand you have to create the excitement to inspire people to move forward. It’s important for transformation teams to not be held up by bureaucracy and figure out a way to collaborate effectively with the existing organization.”
Hugo Walkinshaw, Chief Partnership Officer for AntWorksSingapore, delivered a presentation that examined the role of intelligent automation in enabling and driving digital transformation in today’s world, “There is a really important human element in this whole process. It’s incumbent upon us to understand how to have a dialogue that is constructive and supportive that helps people think about the opportunities for this technology as opposed to the threats.”
