Equals, the next-generation global money movement platform, has selected Aiimi to advance its data governance capabilities within the strict regulatory environment of financial services and UK GDPR requirements. Aiimi will work alongside the Data Protection Officer and IT team at Equals to enable fast and consistent responses to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) within regulatory deadlines.

In recent years, financial services firms have seen an increase in the number and complexity of DSARs: a time-intensive data compliance challenge, with strict deadlines of one calendar month. Failure to complete a DSAR can land businesses with fines of up to £17.5 million or 4% of their turnover, whichever is higher. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), which oversees DSAR compliance, has seen a 15% increase in the number of DSAR-related complaints directed at finance firms.

Equals is investing in Aiimi’s DSAR tool to stay one step ahead of regulatory demands, reflecting its commitment to responsible data stewardship. Through AI and automation, Aiimi’s tool will enable Equalsto expedite its DSAR responses, ensuring they are timely, compliant, and accurate. The savings made in time and effort will enable the data protection team to focus on other strategic work that only humans can perform.

Equals will be taking advantage of Aiimi's new SaaS deployment model, where the tool will be deployed in a secure cloud environment. Aiimi’s platform capabilities also include automated redaction of third-party data at scale. It can find and remove duplicate content, thread information from email chains, facilitate two-way communication with data subjects, and produce a full audit log to underwrite compliance.

Steve Salvin, CEO and Founder of Aiimi, says:

“We’ve seen the volume of disclosure requests surge. Nowhere is it more vital to deliver these responses compliantly than in a highly regulated industry like financial services, where information is extremely sensitive. But completing a DSAR manually is a repetitive, fatiguing task, prone to error. Aiimi’s platform uses AI to automate time-consuming parts of the DSAR process and help data protection teams complete week-long tasks in minutes.

“This is ultimately about ensuring compliance and saving data protection teams’ time for the tasks that most require human oversight. We’re excited to be working with Equals as they futureproof their data governance and empower their teams with automation to tackle a challenge that’s only growing in importance.”

Lee Rowles, Data Protection Officer at Equals, says:

“At Equals, our clients trust us to protect their data every time they move money through our platform. We treat data governance as core infrastructure, not paperwork. The operational burden to comply with DSAR requests has steadily grown in recent years, requiring more resources from our data protection team, all the way up to senior leadership. We recognised an opportunity to power our DSAR processes with robust automation, scale with demand and reinforce our compliance practices.

“Of all the providers we looked at, Aiimi’s solution stood out. It was rigorous, intuitive, and built to the high standards we require. This partnership will free up our team to focus on higher-value data protection work, while ensuring we can confidently meet ICO expectations.”
