“Wage growth is struggling to keep up with the cost of living crisis, meaning that despite pay rises, Brits are still left with less money in their pocket. Following today’s ONS figures announcement, it is more evident than ever the impact this is having on the nation.

“The upside is that while inflation might rise further, we’ve reached a peak with the rising cost of living. In economic terms we’re nearing the end of the cycle. The cost of living will go down before increasing again, giving Brits some respite from heightened costs.

“The single greatest challenge we’ve seen people have with their finances is that they don’t really understand their money – how much they spend, or what is a good deal or bad deal. This partly comes down to a need for greater knowledge and awareness, but more importantly a lack of time. Human nature is to take care of our family and friends first, and ourselves last, but Brits need support with financial understanding. Finance enables people to celebrate life. It’s not about being wealthy, it’s all about securing better value for money.”
