The Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC), the leading industry association for the blockchain technology ecosystem, is delighted to announce that it is co-hosting the fifth annual Blockchain Summit on Necker Island alongside Bitfury, a leading full-service blockchain company, and ACTAI Global, a community of extraordinary athletes, conservationists, technologies, artists and innovators supporting social impact causes around the world.

Between June 21 and June 25, 40 delegates from around the world selected for their leadership, innovation, and drive in the blockchain ecosystem will convene on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island to share ideas, put projects into action, and engage in impactful, high-level discussions to identify ways blockchain and other emerging technologies can be used for good.

In 2016, the GBBC was conceived during that year’s Necker Blockchain Summit. This year, the GBBC will host its Leadership Summit, alongside the Blockchain Summit, with GBBC Board and Leadership to outline major initiatives for the coming year.

Valery Vavilov, Co-Founder & CEO, Bitfury Group said: “The Blockchain Summit provides the perfect setting for world-class leaders to discuss how blockchain and other emerging technologies can solve some of the biggest problems facing society, while improving our existing technologies and networks. We share individual experiences and ideas, with the expectation that we will create real change.”

“There are no large stages on Necker Island – just people connecting honestly to discuss the problems they are working to solve. These are the connections that set our summit apart. We break down the barriers between guests and help them form lifelong partnerships that make the world a more liveable place for all of us.”

Sandra Ro, CEO, GBBC said: “The changes in the ecosystem over the last three years have been remarkable, and it has been the GBBC’s privilege to grow up and lead during this evolution.”

“Through the incredible work of our members, innovators, regulators and industry leaders, we are more bullish than ever about our capacity to work together to make the world a more equitable and functional society through thoughtful deployment of this technology. It is with this spirit of creative collaboration that we return to Necker this year — ready to do the hard work needed to move blockchain further toward global adoption.”

Bill Tai, Founder & Chair, ACTAI Global said: “The full potential of this wave can only be released if leaders in technology actively engage with those in government, policy, and business. Tying everyone together around social and environmental causes is something the world needs at this critical time. Our ACTAI community is honored to help make this happen with the GBBC as a cohost of the 5th annual Necker Blockchain Summit.”
